The Good Reverend is back!, 2008-07-27 It is hard to believe that the Al Green of 1969 is the same Al Green forty years later on this CD. I mean, the voice, the tone, the moan, the music --- IT'S THE SAME GOOD STUFF! John Legend, Corine Bailey Rae, Quest Love and the other Roots personnel clearly know how to compliment a living legend and no doubt, they all studied Willie Mitchell and the Memphis sound. And what can we say about Anthony Hamilton. I have always said that this guy is a "throw back" soul singer, cut from the same cloth as Eddie Floyd, Johnny Taylor, Otis Redding, and of course, Al Green. I play this CD at home, in the car, and at the office. It's top quality singing, song writing, and most of all, LOVE SONGS! Of course, buy this CD and enjoy it with your lady!
I love Al Green, 2008-07-23 If you love Al Green, this new album is what you love about him...so get it.

Jon F., 2008-07-22 Unbelievably soulful! Every time I listen I still find it a miracle that this man's music is better than it was back in 1970's. As a DJ at my college radio station, way back then, I really enjoyed playing Al Green records. Over the past year I have downloaded a bunch of old Al Green for my Ipod. Amazon saw that and sent me an update about this CD's release, and I'm sure glad they did. All of the tunes are right up there with his old material. In fact, in some cases, I think he has surpassed his old stuff. Rev Green's voice is as good as it ever was, and the musicians accompanying him are outstanding. The producers of the CD knew what they were doing by not overcrowding the music. Al Green's music is beautiful and intimate. This CD let's all that come through
The Reverend is Back!, 2008-07-20 After all these years, the Reverend Al Green has returned to his roots. He has rediscovered the R 'n' B style that made him so famous in the 1970's. This is his third attempt during the past 5 years, and this time he nails it. Great performance, masterful production and a great list of songs that will take you back 30 years. The production is flawless allowing Green to do what he does best, sing the ballads. The mixture of the horn section along with the base lines reestablishes Green as one of the truly great soul singers. Every song beckons the listener to a sexy, soulful flavor. Standouts are the title track, Just For Me, Take Your Time and All I Need.Any Green fan would do well in purchasing this return to the classic Al Green. Great CD.
His ol' self!, 2008-07-15 Love it! This is Al Green as he was in his prime; strong, sensual vocals, tracks that draw you in. A plus is the coterie of guest artists, especially Corrine Bailey Ray. Al Green's still got the goods!
