STICKY AND SWEET: MADONNA'S AMAZING ALBUM!, 2008-07-24
HARD CANDY is madonna's last album with warner brothers...it's been 25 years since her 1982 debut single "everybody" and now she's still the reigning queen of pop, the world's best selling female artist of all time, and an icon of her generation!

what makes this madonna album simply her most amazing album is that she came back to her roots: dance music - with some twists!

CANDY SHOP - reminiscent of "where's the party" if you could notice their similarty. the opening song for this album simply wants its listeners to get up and dance! a mixed bag of the sound of the 80's, the technology of the 90's and the blending of music of the new millennium! with its simple (but naughty double entrede lyrics!) madonna invites everyone to her candy shop where everything is sticky and sweet!

GIVE IT 2 ME - one of the best tracks in the album. this time madonna asks her fans to give it to her - as she wants to break records, get arrested, or be undressed - whichever you want! in a sudden twist of fate, this somehow became the new lead single of hard candy! not bad. this only means that madonna was able to follow-up "4-minutes" with another strong single. the remixes of this song proves how good this song is!

4 MINUTES - the first collaboration with timbaland and timberlake. this song made the fans thought that madonna will be sporting a "new hip hop sound." although 4 minutes is a good track, it was earlier thought of to isolate the vintage madonna sound from the queen of pop. luckily, the rest of the album is still madonna! however, the remixes of this song really rocks and brought out its inner beauty! congrats to justin timberlake and timbaland! just one of the many great collaboration of madonna and justin and timbaland.

HEARTBEAT - one of the best tracks. this song just brings back the madonna of the 80's. except for the new beats, this is definitely vintage! this track seemed to belong between the LIKE A VIRGIN and TRUE BLUE era...i could not wait how the remixers would re-do this track.

MILES AWAY - a ballad that seems to belong to the "ray of light" album. this is another great track. the other great ballad in this album is "devil wouldn't recognize you." this song used acoustic guitars, techno beats and an ending similar to an earlier great track (easy ride from "american life") wherein a ballad goes techno or remixed towards the end! this is another great song and rumored to be the third single.

SHE'S NOT ME - a funny but nevertheless great track. once again, madonna lashed out at "wannabes" and "mistresses" and "copycats" who wanted to copy her. nice guitar rifts that seem to belong to the "chic" era. definitely a hard disco track reminiscent of the late 70's and early 80's - where madonna first came! one of two 6-minute tracks (the other is incredible) that is really a bonus for fans since madonna doesnt record songs that long nowadays! (is this dedicated to mariah?) the simple use of bass and percussion is simply amazing. i only wish that it remained like that until the end. the ending (somehow fastened the speed of the song) seemed inappropriate.

INCREDIBLE - another great track with a few seconds of intro. it's just hard to classify if its a dance track, since there are many stops, but one of its good parts is the voice loops which is seldom done nowadays. another seemingly "lost in the 80's" track. the lyrics - "sex is incredible" - brought back "erotica" memories in a nice way. this fun track clocked at around 6+minutes, but you wont realize it's over till it's over. this track is...incredible!!! however, i still wished that it remained to the groove it started with...

BEAT GOES ON - my favorite track! i fell in love with this song the moment i heard the 30-second sample at amazon.com!!! a disco-inspired madonna track with great rappings from kanye west! she tried not to be repetitive in the refrain as madonna placed some variations and new arrangements and placed some "echo effects" which is also no longer common today. the best track of the album!!! cant wait for the remixes of this single!

DANCE 2NIGHT - another excellent track! this song has very good basslines and guitar rifts. propbably belonged to the early 80's! the second best track in the "hard candy" album. in the league of "come one let's party songs" such as holiday, into the groove and vogue! a great track with justin, you can actually listen to this and lucky star and you wont notice their 25-year difference. nice bass, nice lead guitars, nice lyrics, and great vocals.

SPANISH LESSON - not a bad track, but seemed misplaced in the entire album. madonna's humor is clearly present in this track. she tries to be funny here but some fans did not get it! once again, madonna used acoustic guitars and her love for spanish words (just like in la isla bonita and what it feels like for a girl).

DEVIL WOULDNT RECOGNIZE YOU - despite being a ballad, this is a great track that belongs to this album. it rivals "miles away" from being the best ballad track in the HARD CANDY album. the sonic effects and vocal loops in the end was simply great! it's like listening to a remix/edit version! kinda remind me of "easy ride" from american life album.

VOICES - a great song to close the album, although the track seems
to belong from the "ray of light" album again. it is akin to "power of goodbye." she asks her fans on who is the master and who is the slave...nice vocals from justin...however, the bass seems louder here unlike the rest of the tracks. it has a very dramatic ending, with the instrumentation used such as piano, violins and drums.

despite all the write-ups and bad reviews, HARD CANDY is a better album than "music" and "american life" but without saying that the last two are not great. i could even say that it even surpassed 2005's euro-disco smash "confessions on a dancefloor" as the songs in HARD CANDY are more ear-friendly and groove-ready! the advantage of "confessions" is that it sounded more coherent than "candy" but nonetheless, this album will be able tog enerate more hit singles! this is the sequel to the 80's madonna - a persona we fans have been missing for a long time...

get the album and complete madonna's final journey with warner brothers...

    long live the queen!

(you may get the "extended edition" of HARD CANDY from madonnastore.com. for all the extended version of all album tracks!)

One of Madonna's best albums ever!!, 2008-07-20
A new wonderful album from the queen of Pop!
Madonna may be a 49-year-old working mom pushing 50, but she still loves her dance floor, her catsuits and her pop hooks. She's also an expert chameleon, co-opting current musical tastes for her own pleasure.

The album jumps off the disco of 2005's ''Confession on a Dancefloor'' with thunderous, up-tempo club grinds but also some surprisingly dark moments. The Neptunes - the production duo of Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo - add retro-synth beats while Timbaland punches up the power R&B, along with Justin Timberlake and Nate (Danja) Hills. Madonna co-wrote and co-produced the album's 12 tracks, which swerve from the psychedelic-horn blitz of the Timbaland-produced hit ''4 Minutes'' to the swooping drama of ''Voices.''

We live in a Madonna world. And as long as she keeps releasing albums as vivid, relevant, distinctive and modern as this, we will for a some time yet.

MADONNA GIVE US THE STICKY & SWEET SOUND, 2008-07-20
I Like this album. I don't understand why everybody does not like Madonna or this album. The album is a brilliant up-tempo collection that adds a hip-hop beat to the cultural icon's club sensibilities. This album is like "Holiday" with an R&B groove. This album punctuates the first 25 years of the album career of the most successful female artist in history wiht a musical exclamation point. This album has been certified Gold.

    Madonna is SO over, 2008-07-19
Madonna and I are the same age and I've loved her music and have always looked forward to her latest release; she's written and sang some of the best "pop" music of the past 25 years.

But, it's time to move on. This album is bad. Listen to the 50 year old Madonna sing the lyrics to "She's Not Me"....it's really creepy. I was excited when I heard the Justin duet to hear the entire album. Unfortunately, nothing on this CD compares to that great song...and let's all admit that was 80% Justin Timberlake and the producer.

This CD is a verifiable dud...and a 50 year old shouldn't sing songs like these.
