I love Jack Johnson!! His music is wonderful! this CD came in just a couple of days so I did not half to wait long to hear his sweet voice...

LOVE IT, 2008-08-06
This is actually my first album purchase for Jack Johnson. Up until now, I only had a bunch of misc downloads. I have put off buying an album because usually I find that I never like the whole thing anyway. This album had to grow on me at first, but now I love, REALLY love every single song. It needs to be played from start to finish over and over again. It also helped that we took it along to Hawaii (his homeland) and it was about all we listened too. It's just so relaxing, moving and very easy to listen to. I can't imagine how anyone could not like it.

This is a funny album from Jack. There are some beautiful songs here. The first two cuts set the mood nicely, but the album gets a bit bogged down after that until we hit the gem on the album, which is 'Go On'. I can appreciate the fact that the band needed to evolve and adding a key boardist full time has help create a newer sound. I loved Jack's first three studio efforts, but this album is full of forgetful filler. It feels like Jack was pressured to just get something out in order to maintain the fan base and ultimately sales. I'm happy to have some new Jack in the collection, but hope this is not the beginning of the end for a great artist and band.

Man, I'm a big fan of Jack's, been following him since way back, but I must say this album just disappoints. Was soooo eager to get it when it came out, but first run thru was not impressive. Like his other albums, I hoped it would grow on me, so I listened for probably a good 20 times, still nothing stuck. Put it away for a few months, tried it again, sorry JJ, still kinda lame.
No songs stand out on this one. You could skip to anywhere on the album and I wouldn't know what song number it was nor the name. Nothing like his other albums, which is a BAD thing.
If you're new to JJ's stuff, DON'T get this one! Any of his other albums, including Curious George, have more soul and creativity in them which makes his stuff truly special.

What's cool about Jack is that even his most depressing tunes are relaxing in that laid-back Hawaiian style. There's a lot of disappointment in the state of the world on this album, and a lot of interesting commentary, but the tunes themselves are still calming and uplifting. I love Same Girl and Angel and oh, too many to list. Bonus: my kiddos love it too, and it's so good that it lulls the littlest one to restful sleep on long car rides...
Very cool to know about the solar energy recording sessions, but I would've bought it anyway. I listen to it every day!
