8800 GT in a HP Media Center PC, 2008-06-14
First off I would like to state I have built countless PC's however I got a HP m9000t at an incredible discount.

This card does fit in this smallish form-factor micro-atx case HOWEVER requires removal of hard-drive cage (some work) and disconnecting a few cables to the motherboard. Find another card if you are not comfortable messing around such a cramped case.

This card is 3 to 4 times as powerful as the 8600 GT (on my rig) that shipped with the PC but turns an almost silent PC to borderline loud.

Also the boot time went from 1 min 30 sec to 4+ min; might be a driver issue. Cannot seem to resolve.

If you have the room in a standard ATX case it is a great buy otherwise be prepare to "make room."

    Decent Performance, Unusable Fan, 2008-06-13
The card is very powerful - I wasn't able to find a single game that showed any traces of lag on this beast. However, although the "technical details" here on Amazon list the clocks as 670/1950MHz core/memory, the card I got runs at 600/1800MHz. While it's not really an issue for current applications, it's still worth mentioning that the advertisement is blatantly false in this regard.

The major problem, however, is the fan, which is non-adjustable and constantly runs at 100% speed producing a hum that rivals small aircraft. XFX support, however, are aware of the issue and supposedly send replacement fans for those who complain on their site. Still haven't got mine after a week though.

In general, I would advise people to look for an alternative since this model is known for the problem mentioned above and there's plenty to choose from.

    Awesome Video Card, 2008-06-03
I bought two of these for two different computers that have identical hardware inside. Once I installed the 8800 GT cards both computers had all sorts of boot up issues and sometimes the PC's would just shut down unexpectedly. I had suspected my Foxconn motherboard and finally decided to ditch the Foxconn for a quality Gigabyte board so I could run two PCIe cards in each PC (utilizing the previous 7950 GT video cards). I was really happy once I replaced the Foxconn motherboard with the Gigabyte motherboard because all of my boot up and unexpected shut down issues were resolved. Don't expect much help from XFX tech support though. I tried that route and got 5,000 questions and zero legit recommendations.

    Worth Every Penny, 2008-05-25
It's an awesome graphics card. I upgraded from a 8600GT Nvidia 256MB to a 2600XT Radeon HD 512MB and finally to the 8800GT Nvidia 512MB. I tried giving ATI GPUs a chance but it just didn't work out and I didn't see a performance boost. This card by far outperforms anything I've owned before. My PC's basic specs are Intel Core 2 Duo 2.20Ghz, Corsair 3GB RAM, Raidmax 530W PSU, and a 20" Widescreen flat-panel from Dell. I play my games on native resolution which is 1680x1050 for me.

As for what games I play: Call of Duty 4, Crysis, Counter-Strike: Source, Portal, and some others. On Call of Duty 4 I now have everything at high settings with no stuttering or artifacts running at a smooth 60FPS. Crysis I play on medium settings and get an acceptable 30FPS, if I turn it up to high settings the FPS drops to 20. On CS:S I'm getting between 80FPS-100FPS with everything on high settings.

A few things of importance for potential buyers: this card is approximately 9" long so make sure your case has sufficient depth, also this card requires a PSU of at least 500W to be on the safe side. I'm very satisfied with this card and if I could I would buy another one for SLI but sadly my case only has one PCI-Express x16 slot.

The search has ended !!!!, 2008-05-22
Wondering which card to buy? Search no more, this piece its a great performer at a great price.

I bought this card along with unreal 3 and quake 4,, this games where always smooth with this card at ultra high settings.
Also tried doom 3 which has a self FPS measurement tool through the game console, well this always displayed 50 to 60 fps at high settings; it never lagged. On 3dmark 2001 I got a well received 26800 3dmark score.
My system its a modest pentium dual core e2140 and 2 gigs of corsair ram,, I will review in the future my system using crysis and call of duty 4,,.
Another thing, I did need to buy another power supply, this card recommends at least 450watt power source, I got a 600w at compusa at 56 dls plus tax. The 600w ultra x finity flex force power supply was on sale from 119. Happy day.

UPDATE..... Unless you live in the desert with no one around, YOU CAN NOT CALL THIS CARD "NOISY", on the contrary I think it is very stealth.
