    Smooth transition, 2008-02-15
I have just switched to a Mac notebook, and I'm loving it. I haven't found any glitches yet with the new Office package, and it's been very easy to adapt to. The new features actually improve ease of use, as oppose to some past releases that just make the applications more complicated. I like this version way better than Office 2007 for the PC.

Office 2008 for Mac/better than Office 2004? Not sure., 2008-02-15
I am no fan of Microsoft, but have used Office for a while, and have liked Entourage. The rest of it I use because I have so many people with whom I share documents, and they are interchangeable.

I find the new Office 2008 to be much more cumbersome, slower to launch, and not sure Entourage is any better. It just has a different look to it, and is missing some of the features that I used in 2004. Word and Excel are also much slower launching, and I have had a few crashes in Word; haven't used Power Point, and only a few time, Excel.

For anyone considering upgrading, not sure it is worth the money. If I had read the new Mac|Life first, I probably would have waited. Buy a copy of March 2008, No 14,"A Penny for your Apps" which describes and rates several FREE apps that are interchangeable with Office.

I did receive this in a very timely manner, as always. Amazon's service is outstanding, and do not mean to degrade it in any way. Just not sure that Office 2008 for Mac is worth the price.

OK but runs like a dog, 2008-02-15
I upgraded my Office X (7 years old), thinking I would see a performance boost now that I'm running an Intel Mac--but, true to form for Microsoft, it takes 2-3 minutes to launch the apps the first time after booting up the computer. Entourage is particularly bad, sometimes I have to wait 3-4 minutes and I don't even have that many e-mails to handle. I have also dealt with more crashes than I would have expected. Mac software is supposed to be easy to use, though I must also say that software across the board has been more bloated and problematic than in the past (including Adobe and Apple software).

Other than the performance issue, it is not a bad upgrade: the look and feel is good, the software does what I need it to do and it helps my productivity.

what they don't tell you, 2008-02-15
Macro's are not supported! what this means to you is that ad-ins you may have even unknowingly used in the past are GONE, NOT SUPPORTED! If you do data analysis it can be a big deal.

Graphs, ever make a graph and add in an "X" axis, took me hours to figure out how to name my own x axis and thanks to a blog i found out how to do this. What was Microsoft thinking when they left out this details on the graphs

I feel like the MAC and PC ad where the MAC wants to reverse the installation of Vista. Now microsoft found a way to get even MAC users as well. New software is pretty and once they wor out the missing elements it will be a nice addition but for now keep using 2004

OK, but not earth shattering, 2008-02-13
Some cool new features, but very slow load times, on a high-end mac pro. Doesn't open any faster than office 2004, which surprised me. None of the new features have proven relevant so far as I would always use the Adobe products for serious print work. May appeal to the amateur page layout crowd more. New formula wizard in excel is a little clunky, but probably better for more users and a must for beginners. Keynote is definitely catching up on powerpoint.
