determine estimated taxes, 2007-12-12 When condenplating a taxable event I have often run the old version of TuroTax to see the impact federal and state tax would have. It would be helpful if a feature could be added that would update this run to match any proposed change in the tax code.

Turbo Tax Deluxe Federal + State, 2007-12-11 I am a Beta Tester and I love testing Turbo Tax I have a lot of fun trying to find bugs and things that don't work. I just love this software. It is very easy to use and very intuitive. It imports financial information in seconds, updates files, figures out your taxes no matter how many deductibles. And even if this is your first time doing taxes You will have fun because Turbo Tax will walk you through it.

Incomplete product description has been corrected, 2007-12-01 This is an addition to what I had originally posted below. Bob Meighan, a VP from Intuit (creator of Turbotax) has pointed out that the feature described below in my original review is STILL available in Turbotax Deluxe; their marketing (Web Site) did not provide that information. Bob has stated, and I have verified, that the features list has been corrected/enhanced on the Turbotax website. Thanks to Intuit for being responsive and correcting their product description. I hope that others don't get pushed into buying a more expensive version of Turbotax than they really need. -------------------------------------------------------------------------
I assume that Turbotax 'Deluxe' for 2007 will be as good as previous versions. It is a very solid product. The problem is that, if you believe their own product descriptions, a very useful, timesaving feature that has been available in the 2006 version of 'Deluxe' has been taken out of the 2007 'Deluxe' version and limited to the 'Premier' version and higher.
They are like a drug pusher. They start you off cheap, get you hooked, and then jack up the price.
The feature which is not described as being part of 'Deluxe' 2007, but was part of 'Deluxe' 2006 provides the ability to import year end interest and dividend data from various financial institutions directly into Turbotax over the internet. The 2007 version of Turbotax 'Deluxe' has no mention of that feature being included. I verified by reading the full description of the various version features on the Intuit web site. The import feature is described as being available with Turbotax 'Premier' at a cost of $25 more (at Amazon prices) than 'Deluxe.' So, to get the same features that you had last year in Turbotax 'Deluxe', you must buy the higher level 'Premier' version this year and pay over 60% more than the 'Deluxe' version. A very hidden huge price increase from 2006 to 2007.

TurboTax has a long term rep for quality, 2007-11-30 This is my 10th year to use Intuit products to prep my taxes. This product has a long term reputation for quality, accuracy, prompt updates and software stability. I have used both the Windows and Mac OS version of TurboTax, both with excellent results.
I have tried to use the H&R Block/Tax Cut products and I have been disappointed. The design and ease of use is better for TurboTax. Don't let a $5 price difference fool you into buying a weaker product. The time saved using TurboTax is well worth paying a bit extra.
