    ADOBE PASSES AUDITION, 2008-07-03
I upgraded from Cool Edit Pro 2. The reviews I read about the difference were pretty tepid, but I took the plunge anyway and am SO VERY GLAD I did. First of all, the interface is better. Secondly, work flow is easier. Thirdly, the effects rack is MUCH MUCH better than before. the convolution reverb is amazing, as are the tube compressor and multi-band compressor. I use it for voice work and I am now able to sound so much better even on computer speakers. Highly recommended. I am so happy I didn't 'start over' with pro-tools.

    Audition passes the test, 2008-04-09
Our church group purchased this software for making Biblical teachings ready for radio and the web. Although we aren't exactly high tech, we needed something easy to learn and provided professional results.

Audition has lived up to that expectation. And we have had only one minor problem. When we mixdown our tracks to a finished track, and when we try to burn the track with Nero, Nero says the track is corrupt. We have found that the track is a Windows .WAV file with IEEE Float. We are trying to find the right file format for Nero.

Other than that we are happy with Audition.

Adobe Audition 3 Good not Great, 2008-03-08
I purchased Adobe Audition 3 because I need a multitrack sound editor in my work with videos. I use Adobe CS3 Master Suite that comes with Soundbooth CS3, but Soundbooth does not have a multitrack interface. Audition also has more extensive effects and does everything that Soundbooth does. I expected that Audition 3 would be integrated with Premier Pro CS3, After Effects CS3, and Adobe Bridge CS3 just like Soundbooth is; so I was very surprised when I could not open Audition from Premier Pro CS3 or After Effects CS3, and had to search for the Audition Program on Bridge CS3 instead of getting it from right-clicking the sound file I wanted to open. One of the nice features of Adobe software is being able to open Adobe programs within other Adobe programs to do specialized edits. Unfortunately, this is not possible with Adobe CS3 and Audition 3. A minor inconvenience with Audition 3 is that the Help File is all web-based, so if your video/audio workstation is not connected to the internet there is no stand-alone Help File. On all of the CS3 software the Help files are part of the disk-based software and can be also accessed on the internet. Adobe Auditon 3 is an excellent multitrack sound editor, but if I did not need it now or if I was thinking about upgrading, I would wait until Adobe integrates Audition and creates a disk-based Help File.

    Audition 2.0 on crack, 2007-11-13
This is basically Audition 2.0 with midi capabilities and VSTi support. The GUI (Graphic User Interface) looks exactly like 2.0, which isn't bad, but I was expecting something more "pretty" like Cubase 4. But, hey, pretty just means the program will be a bigger memory hog, so it's all good.

I've been using this software since CoolEdit1.0! I've always loved the simplicity of it, and ever since Adobe picked it up, it has gotten better and better. You can't find a better DAW for a home studio. It's quick, fast, and powerful! While it comes with enough effects and tools to do the job, you'll definitely want to pick up some add-ons, like Reason 3.0, GuitarRig 2.0, Ampeg SVX, Absynth, Waves plug-ins, etc.

Yea, sure, you can blow a bunch of money on that memory hog, Cubase 4, and you'll get a bunch of pretty plugins, but why bother? Most of those plugins are useless, the GUI is garbage and horribly complicated to learn, and you need a stupid dongle occupying your USB port to run it. You're better off hand picking the plugins you want and adding them to Audition.

There are so many reasons why Audition 3.0 rocks (mixing and mastering is a breeze!) and I'd love to tell you about it, but I am running out of time. Download the trial and see for yourself!
