QuickBooks is slow books, 2008-02-25 The product is slow and buggy and INTUIT customer support takes forever to correct simple problems. I would switch if there was another integrated payroll/ accounting program that worked together.

Prepare to get locked into an annual "milking", 2008-02-19 Intuit steadily increases the fees for payroll tax updates. If you read the reviews for the 2007 version, you'll see everyone complaining about the cost for these updates increasing to $200 (it was once $49). Now they've jacked it up to $350.
That bears repeating: PAYROLL TAX UPDATES ARE NOW $350 ANNUALLY.
And I expect them to keep increasing, because they have their users by the coin purse.
Thank God!, 2008-02-18 I've been trying to straighten out problems with the DVD I got through Intuit (chipmunk noises in the background), so I got this book to start learning 2008 in the meantime. I will use it in addition to the DVD program because it's a great book. It goes step by step, just like the DVD and explains everything along the way. I have been reading it chapter by chapter but also use it as a reference while I'm working in Quickbooks. Something you can't do with a DVD program, so this book is handy to have around.

Not a good match with Windows Vista, 2008-02-18 I did not know that this product has bugs with regard to Windows Vista. It crashes on me, won't open and the data transfer was iffy.
However, I had been advised that I had to upgrade for the payroll support.
I've been assured that fixes are forthcoming to help clear up these issues.
The overall layout and usage is good, however.
Fantastic once you learn how to set everything up!, 2008-02-15 Quick Books Pro 2008 is absolutely incredible. As a small business owner who has managed everything (including payroll) with a pencil and a calculator for the past FIVE YEARS ~ this program is going to make my life a whole lot easier. Setting it up, and inputting all of the necessary data is very involved, and can be somewhat confusing. DO NOT LET THIS DISCOURAGE YOU! I hired an experienced QB person to sit side-by-side with me (yes, they will be privy to your very personal and sensitive info ~ so choose wisely!), and actually set up the entire program. Then they helped me to understand the input process. After this part is complete, nothing takes the place of you yourself, sitting down and 'browsing around', clicking on things, and surfing the program and its options. This is how you will best learn it. Be patient, and persevere, IT WILL PAY OFF! Kicking myself for waiting so long. Best of luck.
