Excellent product but has a minor bug, 2007-11-24 Photoshop Elements 6 is a very good product in my opinion. Inexperienced users will likely find that it's easier to navigate than previous versions (I upgraded from version 4 after buying a computer with Vista).
The "organizer" section has powerful sorting and tagging options which make it easy to find and catalog photos. Editing has been made easier than before with options including simple "quick editing" which allows either automatic "one-click" editing or simple sliders to change common values, "guided editing" which does what the name implies, and "full" editing with access to all of Elements' powerful tools.
The minor bug to which the title refers is a glitch in the photo downloader of Elements 6 which seems to cause (at least with Vista) occasional Windows messages which allude to an .exe file and a .DLL file which do not load. These messages seem to appear randomly upon computer startup. One can simply click "OK" to close these messages and tolerate them since there appears to be no effect on Elements' operability. After a bit of online research at Adobe's forum, I found that the simple solution is to choose Elements' built-in option of disabling the auto-download feature which eliminates the appearance of these messages. The downloader still works just fine: one simply has to manually start the download by choosing "get photos" from the file menu. I expect that Adobe will soon offer a patch to repair this small glitch.
All in all, Elements 6 is a fine product and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a powerful and reasonably easy to use photo editor and organizer but doesn't need the massive resources (and the cost) of Photoshop CS3.

WARNING!, 2007-11-24 If you are using Photoshop Elements 3 you will NOT be able to transfer or import your current catalog and tags into Elements 6. Before I bought 6 I called Adobe and they said I'd be able to import my current catalog and tags into 6 but AFTER I had purchased it they said it wasn't compatible!

Great Product-No Problems, 2007-11-23 I bought Photoshop Elements 6 at the same time I bought a new laptop, so I have not had any problems upgrading an old version. The editing tools are easy to use and the organizer has never caused my laptop to freeze. I wouldn't want to try to edit photos without this program, it makes "playing with my pictures" so much FUN!

Does everything I need to do in Photoshop, 2007-11-22 I was nervous to buy Photohop Elements because I was downgrading from a full version on my old computer. However, I only used photoshop for simple things such as reduce red eye and make images with transparent backgrounds. I am impressed with Photoshop Elements because it allows me to do these things just like the full version. I would recommend it to someone who wants a program with the ability to edit pictures and create unique images easily.

Disasterous Experience, 2007-11-19 I have been a faithful Elements user for manAdobe Photoshop Elements 6y years. My most recent experience with Elements 6.0 has been disasterous. When I loaded the program it caused a strange malfunction to my system. Task Manager Performance window showed my CPU usage constantly at 100% making it very difficult to do anything. I finally traced it to a file called apdproxy which is loaded as part of Photoshop Album. Uninstalling Elements did not correct the problem as the uninstall program left apdproxy still installed. I have not been successful in tracking down the problem or reaching anyone at Adobe to report this problem to. I don't know if this is a fluke, an abnormal interaction with something else on my computer or a common problem. I resorted to reformatting my hard drive and reinstalling all of my software but as soon as I reinstalled Elements 6, the problems recurred.
