Released before it was ready, 2008-01-20
I am glad I left Elements 5 installed, as there are several things you can't do in elem.6. It has some good new features which I want so at this point I need both 5 and 6 to satisfy my needs.

Not for large screen LCDs, 2008-01-20
I upgraded from Adobe Elements 2 to Elements 6. The features in Elements 6 are very good, especially the smart fix, but I quit using this program in favor of the old Elements 2 and Corel Paint Shop Pro. I'm running a large screen LCD at 1920 X 1200. Elements 6 menus and icons do not scale up and there is no way to enlarge them via Windows XP or Adobe. Therefore, the menus and icons are so small you can not see them unless you get within 12 inches of your monitor. Also, the batch processing is extremely slow compared to Elements 2. Adobe online was no help. I thought maybe they had a fix, but their tech service was nonexistent. Unfortunately, this was a total waste of my money. Since I process a lot of Photos, I now use Elements 2 for batch processing and Paint Shop Pro for editing. Paint Shop Pro has a nice cropping feature that crops to the sizes required to make standard prints. Every program should have this feature.

Get it for the editor, love it for the organizer , 2008-01-19
Current users all know you can fix a bad shot and tweak the good ones to wonderful final results using the Elements editor interface from most any version, but coming from Elements 2.0 and, the formerly seperate 'Photoshop Album 2.0' the latter portion of PSE 6 (Organizer), for me, is the real stunner.

Let's just say my ever growing currently ~6,000 file catalog of point-and-shoot (now DSLR) and scanned images is already after a couple hours work much better managed, simply because it is much easier, fun and intuitive to do so. This alone is worth the price of admission. Wonderful job Adobe.

Lest I completely let the Organizer overshadow the full editor (other improved and powerful, but simplified, editing levels are also included for the faint of heart), know that a simple 'color curves' edit capability is added, but it is the vastly enhanced 'selection' tool set that makes not upgrading to PSE 6 a large mistake for the experienced user of previous versions, or any serious amateur photographer. Buy it.

Problems with Vista and converting trial version--very aggravating, 2008-01-16
I've been using PSE4 for a couple years now, no problems. I got a new Vista system, so I decided to download the trial version of PSE6. There are definitely some bugs in PSE6 to begin with, but imagine my extreme aggravation when I purchase PSE6 on CD before my trial runs out. I cannot get the code to work. WTH? I pay for the CD, but Adobe tells me that the serial number is invalid. Ironically, I was expecting this issue, since I had heard about it while researching PSE6.

Thankfully, I had seen an apparent solution beforehand (see Timothy Jackson's 01-07-08 review for instructions). I WISH that would work for me, but it doesn't. I downloaded the patch, and followed all the instructions perfectly, but I still cannot switch from the trial version to the paid version.

I am beyond aggravated at this point, and now I have a long phone call to tech support to look forward to--ugh!!! I regret downloading the trial at all, but I NEED Photoshop for my artwork, so I am in limbo right now.

I might just install PSE4 onto my Vista system and call it a day, although that will probably be fraught with problems as well. (sigh)

Adobe needs to get their act together. I picture a bunch a squirrels creating software in a tree trunk and releasing it before it's finalized. What a shame, as I love what I create in Adobe. I cannot say the same about the software itself at this point.

    A bit disappointing, 2008-01-15
I purchased this software not knowing that it does not come with a manual.
I think it is quite misleading, you'd think you would be able to download some kind of manual on-line. All I've found is a few lame tutorials that really don't help much. It's so obvious that a manual is "missing" that a book has been written called "The Missing Manual for Photoshop Elements 6". Also, I was disappointed with the level of support. I called the 800 number regarding the license agreement (how many copies I can load on computers) and waited on hold until I gave up. I finally found it when I went to load it on my desktop pc in the license agreement fine print. I would have thought it would be on the packaging? Needless to say, it is a slow process trying to figure things out without a manual. I will have to wait until I can buy the "book" to get serious about using it. I don't think I'll be buying another Adobe product.
