The absolute worst, 2008-02-14 I purchased AntiVirus 2008 because my current system is running a Norton Product, which seems to be a big problem switching from one vendor to another as they seem to leave remnants of the old software behind that can create conflicts. Immediately I was no longer able to access the internet or my email. My ISP verified that the firewall was blocking all access to the internet and gave me Symantec's 800 number. The phone system is designed to deny any caller from speaking to an actual person. They repeatedly asked me to go to their website to figure why their product had caused so many problems, which was obviously impossible. Once I figured out to bypass this, I was told that I could not receive any type of assistance without paying for support (although I had just paid for their product which caused the need for this support). I was told phone support would cost $9.95 which they insisted that I supply a credit card number for to go any farther. Once I paid up, they did have a technician remotely access my system and delete all remnants of this product and install a fix. This took approximately 2 hours.
I just checked my credit card balance and the technician charged me $69.95 to repair their flawed $40.00 program.
Steer clear is my advice!
Never received product, 2008-02-13 money was refunded with no word from company, no explanation, never received product to review.

NAV 2008 Would Not Install, 2008-02-10 I was never able to get Norton Antivirus 2008 to successfully install, so I don't really know how it works -- I've used Norton anti-virus for well over ten years, have worked on PCs since my first 386SX, and NAV 2008 defeated me. After install completed, NAV reported that antivirus scanning was turned off, and told me that I would have to reinstall to fix. Reinstallation brought the same result. Norton (free) Tech support options are limited, and after a long wait for "chat" support, they didn't help me. I experienced these problems on my wife's Windows XP PC -- nothing but a firewall and basic software. I'm now searching for the best alternative to NAV -- I will not go through this ordeal again with the rest of my systems.
Great product, 2008-02-08 Norton AntiVirus 2008 does exactly what it is supposed to do. Also, it was easy enough to install that my non-computer-literate father had no trouble following the directions.

Hurray, I have uninstalled Norton Antivirus After a year, 2008-02-03 The minute I installed Norton I had problems. It acted like a virus slowing my computer down considerably. Not only that, after some time it always gave me error messages when I opened a word document or other documents. I had to click the error message away three times. I followed the link to solve the problem with the endresult that I Symantec could not fix it. Finally, the one year description has expired and I was able to unintall Norton antivirus. Let's celebrate. I got a cheap Kaspersky Antivirus over the internet and sofar I am happy with it. Never again Norton antivirus
