Great processor, but now outdated at current price , 2008-08-17
The E6700 is another fine dual core processor from Intel. Unfortunately, with the recent price drops on 45nm processors like the E8400, there is no reason to buy it. For virtually the same price, get an E8400 or for a little more, the E8500. Even the q6700, a quad core, can be had for around the same price.

The processor itself is excellent, just old.

Not compatible with all PCS, 2008-06-14
I was so bummed when I opened my chassis and saw that my motherboard was not compatible with this sweet piece of hardware. I had to go to the website enclosed in the user manual to verify that my motherboard was not compatible with this processor. I wish the information had been available on the product page because when it said compatible with all PC's I believed it. The disappointment was ultra lame! Just be sure to verify compatibility before you buy.

    Amazing Overclocker, 2008-06-02
This will be sweet and simple. This processor is quick and inexpensive. this is the sweet spot of CPU's both Dual and Quad core and few will argue that. It is very powerful at stock speeds and can outclass all it's younger brothers when overclocked, except quad cores on those very few apps and games that benefit from the 4 cores. so like the pros have been saying unless you are rendering your own pixar movie YOU DO NOT NEED quad core right now. Also Don't bother paying an extra $50 or $200 for the faster duel cores as this can be overclocked above them very easily, and it can be overclocked above intels ENTIRE line with a little bit of research.

    Good Value, 2008-05-09
This it's a powerful cpu, with a good price. I've a sense of speed in my computer. If your motherboard don't support the new 45nm processor this is a good choice

    Excellent overclocker, 2008-01-30
this processor is able to handle serious overclocking
from a core clock of 2.66GHz to 3.2Ghz core temps drops 1 degree
from 2.66GHz to 3.8GHz core temp rises 4 degrees
*all temps were under full core load using watercooling*
