    DO NOT BUY!, 2008-05-14
My husband and I were both excited to try Rosetta Stone. I had six years of Spanish in school and my husband had never had any Spanish lessons. We were both frustrated and upset by our experiences.

My husband was having a good time going through the first few lessons and felt he was doing well. I thought we would be able to have a few very simple conversations like "Hi, how are you?" "My name is...", but that isn't the way Rosetta Stone works. I quickly worked through several lessons and became amazed at how useless all the information was. If I was in Mexico and wanted to order food, make a hotel reservation, or just talk to a small child this software would not help. I went through lesson after lesson and was going over Geography and still hadn't seen anything about how to introduce myself, excuse myself or anything that would be of any use in a real life situation.

Meanwhile, my husband became frustrated as the learning curve became vertical. He gave up when the lessons were too confusing and I have to say I didn't encourage him to keep trying because I felt it was pointless.

    Good program, 2008-05-02
This is an interesting concept in language learning. There is absolutely no English tanslation. Everything is accomplished through pictures and context. I took Spanish in high school, so I already knew the basics. Even if that weren't the case I think It would work. There are some phrases that are a bit tricky to grasp, so seeking outside help might be useful. There is a lot of repitition, and a heavy emphasis on pronunciation. Be persistant.

    Well worth the money, 2008-04-29
I bought this for my wife, who has wanted to learn Spanish for years. She has found it very instuctive and spends at least an hour a day doing the lessons. She has learned quickly and easily and is almost ready for further lessons. This program is expensive, but well worth it if worked the way Rosetta Stone suggests.

    Hola! , 2008-04-22
This product is great! It exceeded my expectations by having a voice activated option which allows you to speak to the computer and have your pronunciation recognized. This gives you the ability to make sure you are not only learning the words but speaking them correctly as well!

I would highly recommend this and I intend to buy other versions as I progress!

    Adios!
