Returning it, 2007-09-17 This product sounded too good to be true and for me it was not good. Installation was easy, no problems. I connected my video camera and the USB box and copied over my first tape. That is when problems started: 1. Sound timing is off, voices and mouths are not in sync. 2. In edit mode the transition effects from one scene to the next do not work. 3. When creating a DVD the program would start and then just crash. After several times I finally figured out that I had to download a patch from their website. I did that, but the program continues to crash, each time locking my DVD drive so I have to reboot the computer to remove the DVD.
Not a very good product.

Frequent crashes, 2007-09-16 This program crashes frequently on my XP machine (which far exceeds every minimum requirement). Even worse, when it does crash, the suggested solution is to uninstall, reboot, reinstall, reboot; and sometimes even that has to be done twice. Sometimes there is sound without picture and sometimes there is picture without sound. The worst crashes involve the program completely ceasing to communicate with the capture device box. Sometimes the program simply stops and throws up an error message, usually while trying to change functions, e.g., from capture to edit. (Pausing at least 90 seconds between each mouse click sometimes helped, I discovered.) The friendly customer support people offer useless suggestions: I have unplugged every "unnecessary" USB device including scanner, camera, printer with no improvement. I have disabled every "unnecessary" program including wireless internet connection, firewall, antivirus with no improvement. The user manual completely fails to explain HOW to use the program and I wasted many days trying to guess. In short, this program was not ready to be released and inflicted on ordinary non-experts. Mine is being returned for a refund. Paul

More than VHS tapes!!!, 2007-08-24 I bought this product for few of the VHS tapes I had that needed conversion before it's too late. But I ended up using the product more for 8mm and old analog camcorder movies that I had for a decade. It is amazing that I can save those to DVD. Before this product, I had no idea how to do it.
Well, this product(software) also works with my new digital camcorder, which is great plus! My kids like the Sony PSP movie conversion but it's another story!

Easy to Use, 2007-08-06 I didn't have any problems using the product. There is some skipping of frames while converting the vhs tapes, but some of that was related to the quality of the video tape. There were also a few delays in some of my recordings between the sound and video. It was only occasional, but annoying when it did occur. Not bad for the price, though.
Overall, I've been able to accomplish what I wanted to: convert some homemade videos to dvd. I've haven't tried to convert any of our purchased movies on vhs to dvd, so I can't comment yet on that aspect of the program. I also haven't tried the audio conversion feature yet.

Get the drivers and save yourself a headache!, 2007-07-01 This is an AMAZING product and you won't find a better price, throw in free shipping and you are crazy not to get this product. After searching for a great system, numerous computer site reviews and user reviews lead me to this product. Simple, easy, straight forward. Just be sure you go to the product home page and download the latest drivers so you won't get an error message like I did. I love it and within one afternoon I made a DVD of my home movies from several VHS tapes and now don't have to worry about losing these wonderful memories.
