 This is a REALLY, REALLY TOTALLY AWESOME GAME!!!, 2005-04-10
I totally love this game. At first when I installed it the sound "didn't intialize," whatever that means, so I had to download this patch for the sound and after I downloaded it, it worked just fine.
My sisters and I have literally around sixty Dogz. My little brother, who is three, even plays this game, so it is really easy, but not so easy that it gets boring.
Breeding Dogz is so fun and they are soooooooo CUTE, especially the Puppiez! In the Nursury the Birth Certificate is really cool, it shows the pictures of your new Petz and tells you if they are girls or boys. Then you can name them! I love taking care of them; but the first few days they are Newborns and their eyes are closed and they just sleep, but in a few days they open their eyes and they play and eat! We give the adopted Petz adopted parents and it is so cute how the baby Dogz play with their new parents!
Training them is really fun, too; sometimes they do tricks like roll over and headstand and sometimes they even walk on two legs without any command!
The Pigz in the Backyard are horrible and they are really mean to Petz (ie. jumping on them and trying to bite them), but the Petz sometimes bite back and that is sometimes nice, the Pigz are so mean!
Other reviewers said that the food dishes, Treatz, and Toyz bounce. They don't, they only realistically move across the floor when the Petz run into them, but they look like they are bouncing and they really aren't.
This is my favorite game out of all of my games and before I got this game I didn't think there was any good game about caring for virtual pets. Obviously, I was wrong, because this game is totally TERRIFIC, AWESOME, and FUN!!!!!
If you are a pet-lover and you like to play on the computer then this is the perfect game for you. You should get this game-it is the most fun game ever and you will love it!!!!!!!

I love this game! Scenes: Its got lots more scenes including the salon. Litters: They can have up to 4 puppies! Miny Games: Its got miny games to play including tic-tac-toe. Breeds: Its got new breeds including the Pug,German Shepherd,and the Golden Retriever.I like to mix-up the German Shepherd and the Sheepdog. It`s a MUST BUY!

DOGZ5 IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There are many different kinds of breeds to adopt, and no, they are not called "scrappy" and "boots" anymore, they are the names of actuall breeds, like Dachsund, Golden Retriever, Pug etc. You can even breed two breeds together for MUTANT MUTTS!( I'm trying to breed a sheepdog and a dachsund)Then, Breed one mutant puppie breed with another for a FOUR BREED MIXES! Also, you can dress your dogs in clothes, and they can show off! You can even create your own "playscene"(backdrop)for your pets!

The BEST game I have EVER played!!!!!, 2005-01-26
This is an AWESOME GAME! I play it almost every day and I own over five dogz.
The only bad thing was that when I first got the game and installed it on my computer, I got a message that said "The sound did not initialize." However, in the installation manual it said to go on www.focusmm.co.uk/support
and there they had a patch for the problem. It fixed the problem , and now the sound in the game works perfectly.
Also, as a few other reviews said, sometimes food and water dishes (and even treatz) bounce around, but not very often.
Some of the mini-games are fun, and all of them (except the Arabian game and Rock-Paper-Scissors) are very challenging.The Asian Temple game is very hard because all of my dogz (except the poodles) hate doing the tricks, especially jumping through hoops, but it's fun anyway.
In the mini-games sometimes you can win seed packages to plant in the backyard, and then you can put them in the vase (which you also can win in mini-games). One kind of annoying thing is the pig in the backyard! He runs around and jumps on my dogz sometimes and most of my dogz hate him, but whenever I go into the backyard I go into Options and choose "No host characters in rooms." Then when I go into other rooms (where the host characters are cute) I change it back so there are host characters.
Even though there's a problem or two, this is a great game and if you're a dog-lover like me, you should get this game!

Not Bad At All, 2004-12-27
This is the first Petz CD I got. When we first got it, it was pretty cool, but it gets sort of boring after you know everything you can do. The mini-games are good ways to get toyz. Some of them are too easy. You can cheat on one of the games, and that needs some work. The help file needs some work, and they need more realistic weather effects, for example, it can snow in the middle of summer. The pets are too wide-eyed, and weird things can happen. The graphics will also need to be updated.
Those are some improvments I think are needed. I don't know what Petz 4 is like, but I know this one is probably a big improvement. You can adopt petz in the adoption center, and bring them to other places, even other countries (virtually, of course). You can feed your pet, groom it and play with it. Neglected and/or abused petz will run away (into a RunawayPetz folder). It is a lot more interactive than most pet sites. You can even interact with other Petz ownerz on Petz.com.
One good thing about this game is you can not only play with Petz, but can also show off your petz using the Petz Publisher. It is a simple way to make personal web pages about your petz. Another good thing about this game is that not only can you play in playscenes with your petz, you can also create them. However, when you make one, take into account that it can't have weather or day and night effects. Day and night effects are also cool things about this game.
I think that Ubi Soft could add more cool things to this game, as well as fix the downfalls. They could name the town the petz live in (Petzia is one of my ideas) and add a Petz newspaper. Overall I would say this is a good game for kids.
