Awesome for Home Building, 2003-12-07 My grandfather bought this to design the addition on to their house. I tried it and had no trouble. It was fast and easy. I love adding the furniture. I designed the addition on the software. I love designing houses on it. Making them as large as I want. I have tried other home remodling software and i found this one to be the easiest. On some software the rooms have to be rectangular, but on 3D Home Architect they can be different shapes. I recommend this to anyone who is need of an easy home design software.

Sorry - not for me..., 2003-10-16 I started using this product to try and render a house that was a reasonably simple rectangular design. I found the program great, to a point, and for it's price, it is worthwhile. Unfortunately, I found myself tinkering for ages trying to get walls to meet, making rooms into rooms (by making the walls meet) and found some functions virtually impossible. I tore my hair out for a few hours, then threw it on the WAREZ heap, where it will probably stay. Good for beginners after a cheap solution. Maybe if you're trying to do something tricky, you should invest more dollars, though....

Great program for the price, 2003-09-30 I bought version 3 because it was cheaper and reported to be easier to use. It certainly was. You can't beat it for the money. Draw some walls and then you can see it in 3D either from the same level or from above.

Buyer beware! No annotate feature., 2003-09-22 Be aware that this version is not the Deluxe or Professional version and you will not be able to annotate at all. This means no printable dimensions or text fields to identify rooms and such. OK if you just want to play around, but if you want to design something for real you need to buy at least the Deluxe version. Not much good if you can't print the dimensions of your design. Software crashed on me several times and I was unable to get the tutorial to run until calling tech support. (Tutorial doesn't run well if you use Netscape and you must have Macromedia Flash). I am running XP on a 1.2 GHz box with 768 MB of RAM so that should not be an issue. Tech support from Broderbund is good though.

Easy Learnning Curve, 2003-09-07 This is the first 3d cad software I've ever bought. I bought the program to wet my toes in home design software and discover what features I needed for a later, more serious purchase. To test the program I had two projects in mind. The first project was a remodeling project for our church's sound booth and the second was to create a 3d model of the whole church building. Within minutes of starting the program I had the walls, stairs, doors, and a raised platform for the sound booth layed out in the program. A little while latter I was taking a 3d walk through of my design. The program was very easy to learn and had a very intuitive user interface. However, the selection of objects (doors, stairs, furnishings, etc) are quite limited in this version of the program. Also the 3d walk through viewing angles and controls seem a bit too restrictive. Later I tried my hand at the exterior of the church building. Again the program prooved easy to use and learn. I had no trouble adding a roof and other exterior components to my design. However, as before, the selection of components (roof types textures etc...) is very limited in this version. All in all, I recomend this program for users wanting to get a feel for home modeling software or users with small projects using standard components. This is not a professional program, but is very useful in its own right. I did not have any trouble with the program (no crashes or strange behavior) on my system (Athalon 700MHz, W2000, 320Mb) during the two weeks I was using it.
