    Not really that bad, 2003-07-01
I just bought this game and played it for a few hours. In my opinion, it turned out that it is not as bad as most people were complaining. On the bad sides, the sensitivity of the controls are indeed a little different. But they weren't really as bad as I thought. One obvious difference was that you would have to hold the Shift key for 1 sec or longer before pressing the arrow keys in order to do the side steps. Otherwise you would experience the "spinning" that many people were complaining. The other thing is when the game is being loaded, there is no busy icon or anything that tells you the progress of such. On the positive sides, the graphics, lighting effects, and sounds are clearly better. And Lara has a more real life look than the previous versions. I experienced no problem narragating it's first mission. With a little practice, this game would be as much fun as it's previous versions.

Expected more for PS2 version, 2003-06-29
Just bought it 2 days ago so I just started playing it. I admit that I bought into their hype with the great teasers and almost a year of pushing back to release it. Unfortunately, I'd expected much more considering this is their first TB series for PS2 and the long wait. Like the previous TB in PS1, it's just as difficult manuevering in the game. The graphics are colorful and detailed, but not fluid.
I think the fans of Tomb Raider would be dissapointed a little, but for those who are new to it should enjoy it a lot.

Review of Laura Croft: angel of darkness, 2003-06-28
I just want to start out by saying I like the game, I have fun playing it. Yes it has some glitches and Laura can be hard to get used to controlling, but over all I think the game was worth the money. I did read a review that stated the game freezes a lot, I haven't had a problem, I got stuck in a wall once but that was it.

Yes, I've actually played the game....., 2003-06-24
Yes, I have, I have actually played the game and therefore I'm not basing my opinions on spectulation. But, I haven't played too far into it. But, it doesn't take long to realize some things are different from the other TR games. I should note that I am not a game playing guru, just a moderate player of these games. I have played the entire TR series. I was compelled to write because I actually look to these reviews to help me before I buy a game and so many are all written based on speculation of what the game might be. I hope this helps someone...

Okay, most importantly, Lara is now more difficult to manuever. Though some of it may be my inability to navigate effortlessly; the controls are less than perfect and do not seem to respond as they should.

At times, in other TR games, I've reached a particular challenge that seemed impossible and after 50 attempts and finally succeeding, I'd save the game to never have to face that part again. I am glad in this new one you can save as much as you like because you'll probably need it. I know I do.

From the start, Lara will need to perform sideways jumps and other acts in time-sensitive scenarios and it becomes difficult and ackward trying to line her up for a jump when you push the control one direction and she moves in another.

If you can get over the difficulty of manuvering, and having to reset the game every five minutes, it is enjoyable.

I gave it three stars because even though it has some disappointing aspects of the game, I continue to play, therefore, in anticipation it will get easier with more practice, it does retain some entertainment value.

    Cheers!

Worth the wait, minus some glitches., 2003-06-23
Not as explosive as the earlier titles but this game keeps you wanting more. The graphics are above avg. and the camera mostly does what it should. The sound draws you into the game like before, hearing things coming and looking away from the tv as if they were in your house. There are a few glitches when you read some of the many clues, under the Louvre I had something that repeated for what seemed like forever. I just made it to Prague and can't wait to get off work to play again. Fans will still have the puzzles and mazes that take hours to clear a room. This isn't a shooter though, Lara fights but not often, at least not early in the game. Alot of hidden places that you don't have to go to to complete the game, not little rooms with a medi-pac but large rooms with ajoining rooms. Just buy it, if you have a month or so to invest into being in front of your tv on the edge of your seat.
