Tomb Raider The Angel of Darkness for your PC, 2003-07-04 Out of all the pictures, I think PC will turn out easy and more workable, I have PS1 and I didn't like playing tomb raider on it. There are too many controls. On PC you can pick how many controls you want for Angel of darkness. When people complain about this game, the reason is PS2, almost every game you play on has an problem. If you are planning to get this game get it on PC, you will injoy it and wont have a problem. And I cant wait untill mine comes!!

Tomb Raider Angel of Darkness (PC Version), 2003-07-02 I purchased & played the PC version of Tomb Raider. This version has 2 CDs and both are required to install. The program will recognize your USB controller and will display it on the options screen. You can configure each button to your choice. I recommend that you use a Ten button controller. The directional control is a bit sensitive so be careful not to send Lara over the rail or short fence and have her fall to her demise. The graphics are a big imporovement from the previous versions and the animation is very smooth. The game play is much like the same as the previous five but there are a few new moves to become familiar with. I highly recommend purchasing the PC version it seems that EIDOS has made some improvements to the controls for the PC. Thank you EIDOS!

Not what I was expecting!, 2003-07-02 OK, just got the game last week, and I was soooo excited, but started to play, and was a little disappointed when I found her so hard to control. And what is with the slow motion? Every once in a while it looks like instant replay during your game play, either this, or Laura is severely tired and has to slow down. What's the deal? Also, the camera angles are a little difficult to get used to, I am still adjusting. The graphics are great, but I think a little more work should have been done on the controls; she is just too difficult to move sometimes. Jumping is not the same anymore, and why must she walk before she starts to run? Before it was straight out running, and now, she has to take about 3 or 4 steps before she starts running. I am still hanging in there; I believe it must get better. I am still playing, so I guess I will just have to adjust to the "new and supposedly improved" Laura.

My initial evaluation is "disappointing"..., 2003-07-02 I'm a die-hard TombRaider fan. I pre-ordered AOD way back in August of last year. It finally came today and I immediately installed it. I've been playing it for about 5 hours now. The game locked up my computer about 10 times already... Lara doesn't move smoothly as in the previous TombRaider series. She's a bit choppy and slow to react. She runs incredibly slow compared with previous TombRaider games. There's apparently a bug whenever she speaks to characters in the game because, nearly every person I speak with never finishes their conversation before the computer locks up and I have to shut it down and reboot. Keep in mind, that I have a very powerful computer, designed specifically for gaming. This shouldn't happen. And for you folks who have Windows XP; Home Edition, that's what I'm using. Also, for those of you who haven't ordered the game yet, I would suggest that you wait for the patches to come out first. I'm sure EIDOS is going to have to put out patches to correct these problems... And the main difference I've seen so far with this game as opposed to the previous TombRaider games, is that so far, Lara hasn't fired a single shot. No fights, no action. Just running, hiding and stealth. Boring... As I said, I've only played for about 5 hours now and usually the TombRaider games take thousands of hours to finish. So, hopefully, there will be some action here, someplace... I won't make any permanent judgements yet. But thus far, I'm not very happy with this game. Of her new moves, she can climb into windows, she can sneak up behind a guard like in Splinter Cell, and grab and punch the guy out. That's the most action I've seen so far... And yes, you CAN save the game anytime, except during cut scenes... So, if you get the game, remember to hit F5 often, especially if your computer locks up as mine did/does. Since I pre-ordered the game, I got the DVD free. It has a lot of cut scenes from all the previous TombRaider games, which I was delighted to see. But, they're so dark you can barely see what's going on... Still, when I played the earlier games, I never knew what was going on during the cut scenes because it was very choppy on my old computer. Comparing this game so far, with other games that came out this year, I'd have to say Steel Tide and Splinter Cell, as well as Sum of All Fears (a great game)thus far, are better... Sad, but true... I'll write another eval once I get further into the game... If I can tolerate all the lock ups...

Angel of Darkness is Straight from Hades, 2003-07-02 Yep folks, I'm sad to say the title was appropriate for the origins of the game--Hades. I strongly recommend waiting for a demo, trying the game elsewhere, and/or reading official reviews before even thinking of purchase.Controls are some of the worst in any game in recent years, and horribly frustrating, even when remapped to other keys. The mouse is simply used to turn Lara, not to control perspective, and camera angles can change unexpectedly, sometimes causing what was "forward" one minute to become something else the next. Get ready for some serious motion-sickness and confusion. When doing something like running up stairs, even the slightest change in direction (via keys or the mouse) can cause her to instantly go the other way--not good in situations when time is of the essence, and absolutely maddening. I'll leave it to others to describe how Lara needs to build up abilities like strength and the like as a new feature. Personally, I find this one not even worth trying to finish. Looks like the months of delays were because the creators knew the game stank. Graphics are improved from previous Tomb Raiders, but nothing can save a game like this that's so painful every second due to horrible controls and camera work at the basic level. Worst game I've encountered in at least a couple years. Can't recommend except to the most die-hard, curious fans.
