For most small business owners, keeping up with the accounting is the worst part of the job. A small investment of effort--installing QuickBooks Pro 2002 or a similar accounting package--will almost always save time and hassle in the long run. QuickBooks is best for those with fairly simple needs--while it's comparatively inexpensive and easy to install, its breadth of features and technical support don't quite stack up against Peachtree or MYOB. That said, there are still plenty of businesses that can make good use of QuickBooks; consultants and others with little or no inventory, for example. The 2002 version doesn't bring a brand-new paradigm, but does offer some new and helpful features: improved form customization, better report functions, and customer tracking, to name a few. Easy integration with Microsoft Office, Act!, and other key software packages makes QuickBooks attractive to many users; data transfer is especially straightforward. Invoicing, cutting checks, projecting next year's revenue, and just keeping the books in order is much easier with a computer doing the drudge work. QuickBooks Pro 2002 is the best bet for budget-minded sole proprietors and microbusiness owners. --Rob Lightner

I bought this software, never having used business account software before. I wanted to use it for inventory control and invoicing my customers. I found it quite easy to set up my list of inventory, customers and vendors, and did not have any problems with it. Intuit makes great programs but they also try to get you to upgrade frequently. I finally was forced to upgrade so that I could use it with Quickbooks POS software.
I found that it was easy to keep track of all my bills, pay them on time, see how my company was doing with the host of reports, and customize it to fit my style. I see that others have hated this software, but for me as a guy who struggles with balancing his checkbook, this software was a great asset for me.
