Customer Reviews:
The worst link in the HOMM series, 2008-10-29 If you are a die hard fan of HOMM III (like me), then you might get a short term kick out of this game.
Otherwise, Heroes II, Heroes III, Heroes V are all superior games. So I recommend you go with that route.
My personal favorites are the old school ones (II and III). But there are some good new features in V as well.
Now the review:
Improvements: (Not many, and most of them have a downside)
-The new spell system is cool -I like some of the new interesting creatures (although there are a lot of great ones missing) -It also can be a fun dynamic to have the heroes be able to be in the match (yet at times this can be a huge pain as well with people killing off the heroes before any monsters in cheap single shot kills).
Failures: -The new 3D graphics somehow manage to look worse than the 2D ones in HOMM III -Missing a lot of elements that made the previous games great -Way to many bug issues in this game. -Some combat functionality issues aren't thought through, the hex system is seriously needed here... -Overall, far fewer creatures and different paths to take for victory.
As a whole, the game is a quick kick. But if you don't get sick of it after a week then you must be too high to notice that the game ultimately sucks...
